![]() ![]() I didn't play multiplayer but I heard it was pretty fun. Finding a city that can convert a nearby resource that is in ample supply is too lucrative to ignore unless you are playing 'just for fun.'Īnyway, those are my thoughts. You can't build a huge train empire across the US or Europe, or whatever.Ĥ) It's too simple. The game is limited to a small chunk of a country. If you want to lay down a track over a mountain that won't fit a tunnel, the mountain will literally move out of the way to make room for your track.ģ) The maps are too small. The track will be laid down instantly - not even a SimCity-style quick build will take place, it will just all be laid the second you click the button - and the entire map will shift, if necessary to accommodate your track. You can make a huge track all the way across the map without really even thinking about it. There is no way to override the crappy pathing AI, either.you can't even set waypoints.Ģ) Track construction is so simplified it's boring. If you are playing on the realistic routing difficulty (hard), in which trains won't ghost through each other if they are stuck long enough, the only way to fix a big jam is to delete one or more trains. They will also make mind-boggling decisions.you will find yourself going back to a section you haven't been to in awhile to discover that a train that should just have a simple A -> B -> A route has actually tried to go A -> B -> C -> D for no particular reason and caused a huge traffic jam. Trains will always take the shortest path to their destination, even if that means waiting fifteen minutes for another train instead of hopping over to an alternative track or going another direction. Here are my reasons quickly before I fly out the door.I won't be able to respond to anyone on these until late tonight but I will check this thread when I get home.ġ) The game's pathing is awful to the point where you either have to play on the easiest route-finding difficulty or just assign one train to a track and never even attempt to use another train for that path even if they, theoretically, should never cross paths. Sid Meier’s Railroads! Is the game in which you create and manage your very own railroad empire, matching wits against the greatest railroad tycoons of all times!
